Homestead Finding

We went looking for an old homestead out west of here. This was our destination of the first outing Sterling ever went on, but we decided to turn around and take another route. We finally made it around to heading out there again but decided to come in from a different way. It was good we did because we found a neat watering spring because of it.

When we were getting set up, I went exploring down the road a little and let Sterling walk for a few. He LOVED it. He fell quite a few times as he was just getting steady on his feet. These two are so cute!

Scott LOVES to follow Stan. So when Stan said he was going to go check out a little cave looking spot above us, Scott wanted to follow. He only made it a little way up before it was too steep for him to keep going, but he was trying so hard!

The cave Stan hiked to. He said it looked like it had been occupied (fires etc.) but there were not any artifacts there in the cave.

Scott walked for a good part of our hike. He enjoys it a lot more. The day was soooo windy. I love catching moments like this when these two are being buddies.

We found the homestead and it was quite the sight. It was more kept together than any other home we have found and it looked like there have been people stay in it at times. Seemed a bit breezy for my taste!

Don't know if this was original plaster or redone, but sure was interesting. There were a lot of names etched into the walls. And someone tried to make a little less air come through those windows.

The kitchen? Or work area? It was hard to tell, but that is definitely a cupboard falling off the wall.

We were just trying to stay warm and out of the wind. Sterling really did not appreciate how windy it was that day. He cried most of the hike there.

There were old tools on the counter.

We then headed out and decided to hike back a different way. We happened across an old old road...

We found the water pipe running along it...

And then we started to see random things like this pan,

And this ladder,

And then a structure! It was a shelter built to protect a natural spring

Inside we found:

This looked like where the pipe outside was connected to.

And there was this amazing shrine set up. It had been carved into the rock wall of the spring.

This was such a cool find and so neat. Wish we could talk to whomever built this and lived here!
