White Sands

We decided last minute to go camping the first weekend in February. We packed up and headed down south for some warmer weather. We camped near Alamogordo, about half hour away from our Saturday play destination.

Scott was a happy traveler with his trucks to play with.
We had a bag of twizzlers in a box next to Sterling and we heard him really happy all of a sudden. He had stolen some goods! He was very proud of himself.
Beautiful sunset from our camp spot.
This was our child play pen while we set up.
Stan's artistic picture of the beautiful sunset.
Scott LOVES camping
Fire
This was the only semi normal picture we got the three of us.
You know it was a good s'more if it ends up hanging off your nose...
We slept pretty well throughout the night....or not :) It actually wasn't too bad, but we did all end up in bed together which isn't a very big bed

Scott and Stan went on a little walk in the morning. I always appreciate so much that Stan takes the boys in the morning so I can clean up and get ready for our day! This was the most desert-y we have camped so far.
Sterling appreciated that we just let him roam for a bit.

Sterling played in the tent like this for a while, laughing the whole time.
Trying Dad's pants on for size

We got all packed up and headed to White Sands National Monument. It was way more neat than I could have imagined!

The sand looked like snow!
We first stopped and had a picnic. They had these neat shelters. There was no paved road, just plowed sand
Our instinct driving on the sand was to go slow because it looked so much like snow, didn't want to slide out!
After our picnic, we played on a hill right next to our picnic spot.

Scott immediately LOVED it. Sterling took a little longer to warm up to the sand.
One happy boy

Digging in the warm sand. It was warmer up on top of the hill and Sterling liked this sand much more

We pulled out our sleds we bought just for this trip.

After testing out the sledding on the small hill, we went in search of a better one and found it:

I took a turn down and learned that not all sleds are created equal. This was me slowly inching down the hill.
Scott loves to dig
Stan jumped off and rolled down the hill. Scott tried it too...(he actually tried it before Stan did) but it didn't go very smoothly.
Scott LOVED sledding down with Stan.
We buried Scott...he was all about the idea up until Stan started to put sand on top of him.
Sand for miles

Scott built a 'cano (volcano)
We had bought these goggles in case it was really windy and Scott hated it in his eyes, it wasn't windy so he didn't wear them all day, but he wore them most of the way home.

We had so much fun on this trip! We definitely want to go back. The boys are more and more fun to take out as they get older, more observant, and interactive. :)

Around Albuquerque January 2017

We had a great start to the new year! We loved having Stan home all during his winter break and reluctantly gave him back to work after the New Year.

After Sunday naps. Photo Cred: Scott. We were capturing Sterling's nap hair-do
Scott loves to lay next to Stan on the couch.
And some rough housing:

Scott LOVES beets
We had a good snow, finally! Jan 6th

Obviously it wasn't a ton of snow, Scott's snow angel was half dirt.
But then we came inside to this warm fire! Thanks Stan!
The next day, Saturday, Stan took Scott to the park...crazy kids!

And to the store, Scott loves his racing cart.
It may sound like a stretch, but he was very clearly saying "hot dog". At least it was clear that that is what he was referring to when he was making this noise :)

Sterling was playing with the lid to a contact case in his mouth and it made it look like he had a full rack of teeth.
A little walk at the park on Saturday Jan 14:

And Sterling loving the slide:

Sterling has started to really be a climber. He pushed this over to the sink and then stood up on it. He wanted to see why his brother always loves being right here.
Grandma Merrill came to visit for a couple days and this is the only proof we have of it. But we loved her visit!
We announced that we are expecting another baby in January! We are excited!! August 20th is the official due date.
One day, Scott told me he was going to have a picnic. He took his backpack and headed out to the backyard.
When I looked out, this was how he was having his picnic. Laying on the back porch. He didn't look very comfortable but he stayed out there for a good five plus minutes. Such a funny boy!
