February update

It's been a pretty chill month overall. We have ended up staying home more often and just doing things around town. Valentine's Day was fun. I decided to get up and surprise Stan with this breakfast:

It was quite delicious, but I might be biased :) I took him his lunch so we could eat together, and then we went out to dinner to Red Robin, yum! It was a fun day just celebrating how much we like each other.

Saturday we went on our last adventure out of Albuquerque before the little one is born. Although we have done our research on what to do if you have a baby out in the wild, we decided that wasn't an adventure that we necessarily needed to have, so here we stay. Saturday's drive took us up about an hour northwest of Albuquerque and it was an absolutely beautiful day!

It was such a wonderful time just driving and talking!

Wandering again

This past Saturday we went on a wandering adventure to the same area that we went a year ago. It is crazy to think over the last year and all the things we have learned and seen. We wanted to go back to our first ruin to see what else we might recognize and understand because of our year of experiences. There were also a few other stops we wanted to make. It was an absolutely beautiful day though the wind made it quite chilly, thus our bundled up selves.

As ruins tend to find themselves up on top of mesas, we climbed up over by that pipeline, there used to be a road there but this New Mexican dirt is SO soft that it erodes away easily. There is NO way a car could make it up that spot now. :)

The other week I posted a picture of a potsherd that was so vibrant in color and said how surprised/excited we were to find one like them. This one is a lot more common and typical of what we find.
And that's a rap on that adventure. We found some neat spots that we'll have to go wander in on a later date. For now my adventuring capabilities are slowly diminishing. I don't know that I have any more multiple mile hikes left in me :)

January fun

Stan had his birthday a couple weeks ago. I stunk at taking pictures that day. :( The only one I have is of that morning when he opened his presents:

We had a wonderful day though. We began with German Pancakes, opened presents, and then pressed pause on our party so that Stan could go to work :( I took him a lunch surprise of a little sushi to go with the exciting leftovers he had. After he got home from work, we went out to a New Mexican restaurant we had heard about. It was heavenly. Stan got some red chile ribs and I went less Mexican with a hamburger, but it was all delicious and we had a great time laughing and talking about our memories together.

I sure am lucky to have such a fun companion and it was fun to think of things to do to make his birthday fun...next year I'll catch more of it on camera...

This past Friday was Chinese New Year. We celebrated by making homemade dumplings together. They were sooooo good. I wish that blogs could include the smell with the picture :)

This is our dumpling making station...after they had all been made :)
Stan was the master chef

Stan also spoke Chinese while I tried to mimic what he was saying. Happy New Year!!!
