Another hike in Jarido

We celebrated Halloween by wandering in the desert. We knew of yet another homestead and although it wasn't a large one, we decided to just wander around and see what we could find.

Getting ready to go, Scott was taking good care of the "rio"
After I got my hiking shoes on, Scott came and grabbed my hand and took matters into his own hand, he pulled me down the road.
As we started our on our hike, Scott wanted to walk, so we let him. He was so cute walking through the sagebrush. Sometimes he would walk himself into a blockade of sage brush and would have to back track. He kept looking up to see where Stan was and tried to figure out how to get there.
We made our way up the mesa side and found this crazy tree. It looks like it forgot to grow in the dirt. It was a super tall tree!
On the top of the mesa
It was a beautiful day!
On the top of the mesa, there were these holes made by water.
This hole was really deep.
We let Scott walk around on top of the mesa some. He was in heaven, if you look at this picture closely, you can see his big grin. He did try to do a few scary things though, like step off large rocks, so I had to keep a really close reign on him.
We found the homestead ruin on our way down the mesa and back to the car. The bushes made it really hard to get too close but Stan was able to get some good pictures. Here are the pictures from it:

It looks like they had white washed their walls.

Around Albuquerque May and June...A little late

I don't know how I missed posting these, but here are some pictures from early summer in no particular order:
Our cute boy on a Sunday walk
Probably not from the same day, but sometimes he loves to help with the pushing
It had rained the night before and Scott was playing in a puddle of the side of the house. Nothing quite cleaning up my sandy boy.
So we came in, cleaned off, and I turned around to find him in the sugar bin!
I was getting ready for a trip and so was doing laundry and turned to find him carrying around the hanger like this. He kept it on for a good half hour while he was playing.
This was an early picture of our garden and the roses making progress after I had pruned them
The kid can always find a good stick
Behold the honey!
I caught him eating dirt

Our first yield of strawberries. Small but delicious!
We went to the park often, Scott loved getting on the horse and rocking
We were getting ready to take this back to some cousins in Utah and Scott took the opportunity to play in it one last time (it had been in a closet for as long as we'd lived here) He thought he was so funny.
In May, Scott learned how to smell flowers.
More fun in the dirt
One evening we took a walk around the temple, Scott had to smell all of the flowers along the way

One Monday morning as I was getting Stan's lunch ready, I couldn't find the second leftovers container that had my lunch in it. We were going to have the leftovers from the roast and potatoes that were so good. I was SUPER bummed that I was going to miss out. I looked and looked and looked and thought I had gone crazy. It had been there the day before when I fed Scott after his nap. Finally that afternoon I found the container here. I don't know when or how Scott did it without my knowing.

One Sunday we were getting ready to go to church and Scott got in the car before we did. I heard him yelling and came to find him stuck in this position.
Our beautiful rose bush we didn't know existed until we found the beautiful flowers.
More playing in the dirt/nasty bird bath water from the rain, It was after this I turned the bird bath over.

Our week apart: Stan's conference and my visit to Mesa

Stan had a conference in Hawaii in the middle of October. We decided that rather than have me go with him we will save up for a fun return trip when we could enjoy being there together instead of me loving the beach by myself :) So he went, and Emily had no school and she came to play for a couple days and then I returned with her to Mesa for the rest of the week.

Stan took a whole two pictures the whole time he was in Hawaii...

He did make me jealous with the food.

Scott and I had fun in Mesa. It has been a really long time since I have spent that much time in Mesa for no specific reason (Like longer than six years). I loved being able to hang out with my family and catch up with a couple of good friends.

Scott loved the toy choices at Grandma and Grandpa's. He would get one out and play with it for just a few minutes before we wanted a new one out. The funniest thing he would do was individually taste each of the play kitchen food that my parents have. And he would do it each time he played with them.
He loved when Wilford came home from work each day and hanging out with him.
And playing with Grandma
We had irrigation one evening and so he went and played with Grandma and Grandpa in it
Never mind his scary eyes, I couldn't get rid of them

On the plane ride home, there was (luckily!!!) an extra seat next to me so Scott sat in it some. He had gotten this toy tiger from Grandma during a DI trip and fed it some goldfish :)
It was a fun week but we were sooooo happy to see Dad again at the airport when we got back to ABQ (our flights got back just a few minutes apart).
