Pecos to Cuba in a day

Stan went on Friday night up with all the other guys in our ward to the "Priesthood Commemoration Campout" aka- Fathers and Sons, but he went without Scott :) Neither of them would have enjoyed it very much if Scott had gone. It was held up by the Pecos Wilderness by Santa Fe. We camped there last May but haven't been back much because there was a huge fire last year. He was amazed by the beauty and we can't wait to go back. Here are a few pictures he took that Friday afternoon/evening:

He said there were about nine deer hanging out in the meadow that evening.

I drove up on Saturday morning to pick Stan up. Our original plan was to go for an awesome hike there in the area, but Stan has an old ankle injury that is acting up, so we decided to make the best of the beautiful day and go for a drive. It was an incredible beautiful day. We ended up driving a whole lot, over 300 miles, and saw tons of amazing, stunning countryside that these pictures don't even do justice to. We started in the Pecos Wilderness and went west through Santa Fe, to Bandelier, and on towards Cuba.

Scott has been blowing bubbles lately.

Valle Grande

He was a champ the whole day and only got fussy when you would expect a baby to get fussy (food, diaper, and right before sleep)

We drove to the top of a little mountain called Redtop, probably because the dirt was red. The view from the top was incredible. We stopped and had our dinner on our grill. It was such a nice evening that we were able to get Scott and just chill.

Stan hiked to the very very top of the mountain. There used to be a forest service lookout but it has since been removed. They did have an exciting outhouse.

And here is the survey marker.
And now the breathtaking view...here are all the pictures of it to try and give you the amazingness of it.

This was going to be an awesome family photo...but then it was zoomed in, so now it's an artistic selfie of me. Scott's eyebrow raise those cracks me up.

here's the retry of the family photo

We finished our drive by taking pictures of something we had seen a few months back and didn't take any pictures then. Who knew you could use old tires and so many of them in this way...

If you look to the left everything black are tires.

They were stacked EVERYWHERE! In the arroyos, in front of houses, in their yards, everywhere, I have never seen so many tires in my life. Where did they come from? Why were they there? We don't know. Do you?

Cabezon and other volcanoes in the distance.

Beautiful sunset as we drove home.
