Jemez Camping

On September 26th we headed up into the mountains with a couple in our ward for some fall camping. Stan picked out a spot that looked like it wouldn't have too much traffic but would still be fairly easy for us to get to. The colors were just barely starting to turn and we loved it!

Our first sign of colors. This was taken right before we got to our camp site.
Brian and Dantzel cooked an amazing chili blanco and we had s'mores around the campfire.
A view of our campsite. Brian has a ton of army type equipment. The trailer is their "tent". We might have been jealous of their luxurious accommodations.
The next morning Stan went on a little exploratory hike and found some neat things:

Cockleburs! Stan's old nemesis on the farm
He took this picture because this plant is awesome. Just a unique flower. I love it!
And this picture was for me because he knows how much I LOVE this color of leaf and the changing colors :) So sweet
The morning looked a little eery with overcast sky . This area had a lot of burned forest from a fire a few years back. Notice the group of aspens in the back. Stan knows I love those too :)

It was a beautiful open area by our campsite
When Stan got back from his walk, Scott and I were all dressed and happy.

We love his smile in this one. He was super funny in the tent. He has loved hitting things that make sound and touching things with a different texture. He LOVED sliding his hand against the tent.
The boys by our campfire in the morning.
We picked up camp and headed out on a drive. Brian is the friend that got Stan into ham radio and so we got to use them LOTS that day to talk between our two cars. We saw lots of fun fall colors.

Here's an artistic picture of our radio antenna with Brian and Dantzel's truck following

Scott was a pretty happy camper. He is funny with these rings, they usually end up around his arms or legs. My favorite is when they end up on his thighs, I'm not quite sure how he does that.
My cute boy and handsome man :)
We drove to the end of a mesa that had a beautiful view:

Sometimes it takes a lot of work to get Scott to look at the camera AND be smiling at the same time. Sometimes trying to do so ruins what would have been a good picture :)
Down below in the background is Fenton Lake.
Brian and Dantzel had to head home but we decided to take a road less traveled to get home a round about way. It was a beautiful forest we drove through and brought us back to Cuba and this view:

Another successful camping trip!
