Ready for a fun hike!
We had trouble getting this kid to start hiking because he was so interested in a bug he found. He was following it everywhere, even between his legs :)
I love watching Scott copy Stan

We started our hike on a Mesa...
And then headed down.
And down...Scott hiked for the first bit by himself but then it got pretty steep...and we wanted to walk a little faster than his cute little legs were taking us :)
I had a cute company under the tree. He was just so happy to be out of the carrier.
This was the mesa we had just come down.
This kid, so hard to keep dirt out of his mouth :)

So it's not exactly Puebloan... :)

This is old too...the Sandovals are one of the founding names in New Mexico. They have been here for a LONG time

As you've seen, most of what we had seen were petroglyphs but there were these ruins. You can see the room blocks

And someone has gathered these pottery sherds.

Scott looking so carefully at the pottery.
A pottery sherd up close.
Cholla cactus, they can sure be beautiful
They took a break and I went and wandered for a bit :)
Sure is interesting stuff! We wish we knew what it all meant :)
Headed back up the steep mesa.
