Jemez Camping

We got together with a couple families in our ward to go camping the weekend after we got back from Arizona. We got up there and there was still snow! We knew it was going to be a cold night!

Little family hike before dinner

Scott insisted on walking the whole way. It wasn't that far, but there was a REALLY steep hill just by our camp. He said as he was hiking up it, "This is so heavy!" Funny way to describe gravity but so true.
That night turned out to be one of the worst camping yet. It was the opposite of our glorious night backpacking in the canyon in Grand Gulch. It was FREEZING, and the boys were up most of the night. Finally about 6, Stan was an angel and took them for a ride in the car. Sterling fell asleep pretty quick. He slept in the car after they got back for another hour or more. It had to be in the high 20's that night. Stan said "Next time we do this..." and I stopped him and said "We will never do this again" :) Anything below freezing is way too cold for me!

This boy LOVED the cars and motor homes there. He kept going to them, looking at the wheels, looking into grates and trying to touch wires. He loves cars so much. He will often grab cars at home and roll them around making engine noises.
Scott LOVED playing with the other kids. We often didn't know where exactly he was :) He got to go on a hike with them down the river and loved that too.
Abby and Scott are the same age and they had so much fun playing.
Tired dirty boys means a great camping trip!
